These vehicles are designed primarily for off-road use and, under Ohio law and local ordinance, are generally not permitted on public streets, sidewalks, parks, or other city property. Before operating any off-highway vehicle, residents are encouraged to review registration requirements, age and licensing restrictions, and where operation is legally allowed to help prevent violations, fines, and safety issues.📌Snowmobiles, ATVs, UTVs, and Off-Highway Motorcycles: DefinitionsSnowmobileA self-propelled vehicle designed to travel primarily on snow or ice, steered by skis, runners, or tracks.All-Purpose Vehicle (APV / ATV)A self-propelled vehicle designed for cross-country travel on land or water, steered by wheels, tracks, or a combination of both. This includes vehicles commonly known as ATVs, mini-bikes, trail bikes, all-season vehicles, and air-cushion vehicles. Limited exceptions may apply on state-controlled land when supervised by a licensed parent or guardian.Snowmobiles, off-highway motorcycles, and all-purpose vehicles (ATVs/APVs) must be properly registered with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and display the required decal or metal license plate. Registration is valid for three years and requires proof of ownership, and off-highway motorcycles and APVs must have an Ohio title before registration. Failure to properly register can result in fines and suspension of registration privileges. Before riding, it’s important for residents to understand how Ohio law defines these vehicles, what equipment and licensing are required, and where they may be legally operated.📌Mopeds & Motorized Bicycles: DefinitionsA moped, or motorized bicycle, is any vehicle with two tandem wheels or one front and two rear wheels that is capable of being pedaled and equipped with a helper motor.The helper motor may not:• Have a piston displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters• Produce more than one brake horsepower• Propel the vehicle at a speed greater than 20 mph on a level surfaceIf a vehicle exceeds the above criteria, or any of the other specifications outlined in Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 4501-23, it is legally a motorcycle.Source: https://bmv.ohio.gov/vr-firstissuance.aspx📌Mopeds & Motorized Bicycles : Usage & RegistrationMotorized bicycles may be operated in Ohio only if specific legal requirements are met. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Station Location and Information

The Girard Police Department serves the community of Girard, Ohio and is located in Trumbull County. We are a full-time department and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Parking and handicap access can be found directly in front of the station. Additional parking is available across the street within the public access lot. After normal business hours, please utilize the intercom in the foyer to gain access to the lobby and the station interior.

For access to the Girard Municipal Court during normal court hours, take the elevator or stairs within the department lobby to the second floor of the building.
